In partnership with several community service organizations, Department of Veterans Affairs and local offices of the District Attorney, many Courts throughout the State of Wisconsin administer programs which help veterans with issues such as substance abuse and mental health and which offer a structured response to the alleged criminal code violation. Oftentimes successful completion of these types of programs can lead to reduced or dismissed charges. Several jurisdictions in Wisconsin that offer these sorts of specialized court programs to veterans include the Counties of Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Walworth, Winnebago, Dane, Sheboygan, and Fond du Lac.
